Liu Yang: A Stellar Wing Defense at Shandong Taishan

Liu Yang is a Chinese astronaut and the first woman to travel in space. She was born on October 19, 1980, in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Liu graduated from Tsinghua University with a degree in aerospace engineering.

In 2003, Liu was selected as one of China's first batch of female astronauts. In July that year, she became the first Chinese woman to enter space when she joined Shenzhou V mission. The spacecraft carried her into orbit for three days and she completed a series of experiments before returning to Earth safely.

Since then, Liu has been involved in several other missions.
